Revitalized Tais Market
Local leaders and 48 vendors from the Dili tais market re-open to visitors and tourists on July 9, 2008.
Vendors contributed labor and materials equivalent to more than 30% of the total value of the rehabilitation. (USAID Small Grants Program and Dezenvolve Setor Privadu project contributed funding and training).
Mrs. Josefa da Cruz, one of the vendors in the market, said, “The renovation of the market has increased the number of customers from 3 to 5 people per day to 12 to 15 people every day since it is now clean and attractive to visitors".
